Alec Empire long reached the status of a veritable pop star among friends of electronic, industrial & rock music. In Japan 20.000 fans were celebrating him at the Fuji Rock Festival in Tokyo.

He was not only the revolutionary behind the avant-garde noise punk of Atari Teenage Riot, but also worked with different artists such as blues legend R.L. Burnside, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, Björk, Rob Zombie, Slayer, Einstürzende Neubauten or the members of the new hip hop generation like Company Flow and Prince Paul’s Handsome Boys Modelling School. Last year he did a remix of Rammstein’s single “Mann Gegen Mann“.

Alec Empire is a remarkable musician, who doesn’t want to be tied on just one style of music. He always surprises his audience as a fine intimate music engineer with unexpected experiments from unusual sound spheres. Several of his titles have been used as music for films, like in the feature Black Monk Time (2006), a documentary on the band The Monks or Egoshooter produced by Wim Wenders (2003).

Two Alec Empire tracks “The Ride” and “Everything Starts With A Fuck” have also been chosen as music for a documentary on the life of Danish porn star Bodil Joensen. For the Hollywood movie Fast and Furious. Tokyo Drift Empire composed the soundtrack to some of the drift race scenes. In 2002 Alec Empire received the Kerrang! Award for recognizing achievements in independent music. Other winners included The Foo Fighter and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

The Médecins Sans Frontičrs commercial featuring Alec Empire’s “The Heartbeat That Isn’t There” won Gold in the Direct Media category at the 50th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival 2003.
